WBJ Martin’s The Mechanics of Magic is a modern fantasy novel set in the fictional land of Ardveld; a semi-modern country where magic and technology have existed side by side in relative harmony since the destruction of the royal family twenty-three years earlier. It follows four characters that accidentally get caught up in a conflict over an unknown type of magic as they uncover the truth about Ardveld’s past.
Themes include overcoming trauma, tradition vs change, and found family. The book has no content warnings and is aimed at a new-adult/adult audience, but would still be suitable for young adults or teens.
